JACKIE LEO'S LUCKY 7.

The Number for Happiness, Love, and Success (Hachette Book Group owned TwelveBooks) will be released, appropriately, on December 7. Genesis of Leo's 7 infatuation came during her seven-year, 1987-1994 stint as Family Circle editor-in-chief when she learned that people buying cookbooks replete with recipes more often than not used only seven of them. Then, she learned of Harvard psychology professor George Miller's The Magical Number Seven... that was published 53 years ago in Psychological Review. What followed was seven days, seven-digit phone numbers, seven sisters (both colleges and magazines), seven dwarfs, seven wonders of the world, seven-layer cake, 7-Up, seven-year itch, and the Do-Re-Mi seven-note scale.

All there--and more--in a fun, breezy narrative, replete with sevens from celebrities and colleagues (Warren Buffett/Jeff Greenfield/Dr. Mehmet Oz/Sally Quinn/Christina Ricci/ Real Simple managing editor Kristin van Ogtrop, etc.). The good early press that Seven is receiving (including a Fanfair kudo in the December Vanity Fair) is fitting for the very

accomplished and very well-liked Leo, whom we inducted into min's Editorial Hall of Fame for her spectacular 25-year career as editor...and author.
